Dr. Bob Lukas

Our Staff

Dr. Robert A. Lukas graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 1982.

He was born and raised within the City of Detroit. He returned there after vet school and practiced in and around Detroit for six years, four spent in emergency medicine and two spent in general practice.

His last position in Michigan was as Chief of Staff for an emergency practice. He then performed per diem work at various practices and sailboarded for six months while coming up with his "California Plan".

He moved to California in 1988 and worked as a co-manager of an emergency practice in San Leandro. This position he held for sixteen years, with the last six years spent integrating with a veterinary specialty practice of similar scope to VSA/VMS.

He came to Concord to co-manage Contra Costa Veterinary Emergency Center and had done so from 2004 until the end of 2007, when he resigned and became partners with VSA/VMS to establish a veterinary emergency facility in Dublin. He is fully committed and energized toward the establishment of the Tri-Valley Animal Emergency Center in Dublin, CA, serving as lead partner for the emergency center.

Bob has been a Tri- Valley resident for the last seventeen years, residing in the Tri-Valley with his wife and two kids and three dogs (no cats due to family allergies). He is a booster for the Pleasanton RAGE girl's soccer teams and can be seen around Dublin swim meets and Pleasanton CYO track meets.

Dr. April Le Blanc

Dr. April Le Blanc was born in Los Angeles and graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1986 with a B.S. degree in Biology and a minor degree in studio art.

After graduating from college, Dr. Le Blanc spent time studying depression in low socioeconomic communities. From that experience she has become a champion of the beneficial effects of pet ownership for these communities.

Dr. Le Blanc is a 1992 graduate of the University of California's School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, April worked for the San Franscisco SPCA Animal Hospital for a few years, before turning her focus to Emergency Medicine in 1994.

Away from work, April enjoys volunteering with one of the local Bay Area animal care programs, VETSOS. Her hobbies include art, music (jazz and blues), motorcycles, gardening, and home improvement projects.

Dr. Le Blanc lives in Berkeley with her dog Lilly and two cats, Leo and Scarlet.

Dr. Erin NohavaDr. Erin Nohava grew up on the Peninsula and kept busy competing locally and internationally in hunter/jumper competition.  She went off to UC Davis to study Animal Science as an undergraduate and then graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.  Upon graduation in 1999 she entered an internship program at the Emergency Animal Hospital and Referral Center in San Diego. Rotations there exposed her to many disciplines of small animal and exotics practice.

A native of the Bay Area, Dr. Nohava returned here to practice emergency medicine exclusively.  After working for several years in the South Bay, she decided to take a position at the Contra Costa Veterinary Emergency Center that offered the ability to grow professionally with additional managerial duties.

Being a Tri-Valley resident since 2000, she is thrilled to be a part of bringing comprehensive, quality emergency medicine to our community by joining the clinical team at TVAEC.

Dr. Nohava lives with her husband and son, along with a dog and four cats.  Her horse has retired from the show circuit and is living the good life at pasture.  She enjoys traveling and golfing – although she states that she is a much better traveler than golfer!  In between seeing the world through her son’s eyes, she likes to read, cross-stitch, and quilt.
